Saturday Night - Today: The Abridged Version...

Saturday Night - Watched "Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy" (not bad... not as good as the original, but Alan Rickman was good as the voice of Marvin the android), but decided to have a chuck-in-the-microwave chinese thing instead of the pizza.

Sunday - Made a pot of bolognaise sauce to re-heat for Monday/Tuesday (although I may have made a little too much, since I'm only finishing it tonight... if I can face spag bol for the 3rd day in a row). Watched telly.

Monday - Boss away, not sure where.

Tuesday - Boss still away, still not sure where... but there's still money in our account, so he's probably not done a runner. Counsellor tonight... not sure how much it's really helping at the moment, but I'll persist with it. Woke up this morning with damp feet - stupid hot water bottle was leaking, so I had to dash after work and buy a new one.

Today - College... something like 3 weeks until the exam, and I'm in major panic mode. I just can't get stuff to stick in my brain. Boss back - complete with explanation of where he'd been (taking his daughter away to a concert).

Going home in a blink for my spaghetti bolognaise (urk... I should have frozen it on Sunday).

Found your blog while looking on the internet for a replacement hot water bottle. Would you believe mine also leaked in my bed last night. My old one's still dumped in the bath. What have you done with yours?

  2. Hi, Jilly!

Mine went straight in the bin. But the first replacement one I bought had a lovely furry cover - which was too furry, and didn't let enough heat through to my frozen toes, so I've had to buy a second replacement with a thinner cover!

But my feet were lovely and warm last night.

I gave up trying to buy a new bottle on the internet and bought one this morning in town. It's a lovely lilac colour which is a good match for my bedromm. I don't like furry covers myself; I prefer the extra warmth you get from an uncovered bottle.
I'm now looking for a good excuse not to throw my old bottle away as I've had it a long time and become quite attached to it, but I fear in the end it will just have to go in the bin, which will make me sad!

  4. I used to like a naked bottle, but everytime I filled it with too hot water I burnt my feet.

The first one I bought had a hot pink cover with a couple of sheep on it, and the second one has an orange fleece cover with a blue whale on it (it was cheap).

I hate the rubber smell with a new bottle... :^(

    Hi Ally
Your covers sound nice but I'll stick to the warmth of my "naked" bottle. I quite like the smell of the warm rubber myself - old or new!
I still haven't decided on the fate of my favourite old bottle. I can't bear to throw it away just yet!!!

  6. I bought one of those things full of cherry stones or something like that that you heat in the microwave... a duck, but my cat's decided it makes an excellent pillow after I left it lying on the back of the sofa, and she's stolen it.

It's now covered in cat hairs, and I really don't fancy them all over the inside of the microwave somehow.

I don't like mocrowaved cherry-packs, wheat-packs and the like. I would say your cat's welcome to it!
My sister once bought one but soon abandoned it in favour of a traditional rubber hot water bottle, which in my opinion, is so much more comforting and cuddly.I can put up with the occasional leak - they're worth it!

  8. Last night I took both bottles to bed with me, and had the pink fluffy one to cuddle... until the cat discovered it and decided to lie on top of where it was under the blanket, hogging all the warmth!

Cats seem to have a sixth sense when it comes to finding the most comfortable places to rest, and yours appears to be no exception.
I'd be very worried about the claws though. One hot water bottle leak is unfortunate, but twice in a week??.....That would be a bit too much!!

  10. Oh, no! I never thought of that!

If she bursts my new bottle, the replacement's coming out of her cat food budget... she'll be on the cheap stuff until a new one's paid for!
