I know I've definitely posted this song before, but it was a while ago and, frankly, I don't care - It's a great song, sung beautifully, and merits being posted again.
Okay, okay... I promise... this is the last night of dodgy music for a while! Next interlude I'll get back to the good stuff, but tonight I'm remembering the days as a youngster (before I discovered real music like Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet and Johnny Hates Jazz... lol) when Mum used to take out the record player (ask your grannies) and her collection of Scottish music records and play them... usually with either her or Dad singing along.
Funny how the songs were so often about death, fighting and murdering clans, but I still have happy memories whenever I hear them... especially this first one - it's those (S)Corries again (sorry, Mum) with "The Massacre Of Glencoe"... an event that really took place in the Highlands of Scotland...
There's also a thing starting off on Radio Scotland (presented by Orcadian and Big Brother winner Cameron Stout) looking for the Top 100 Traditional Scottish Tunes (my god, Cameron, so rock & roll(!))...
So another one that would appear on my list (but not on Mum's, 'cause she hated her voice) is Eddi Reader (from Fairground Attraction) and "My Love Is Like A Red, Red Rose"...
