Born To Rock...

Oct. 30th, 1939 - Grace Barnett Wing, or Grace Slick, was born...

Here with Jefferson Airplane, although she has also sung with The Great Society (before JA), and Jefferson Starship and then Starship (variations on JA afterwards), and was a solo artist for many years after that... and "The Other Side Of This Life"...

Of course, those of you who have followed my blog for a while will know this is not my favourite Jefferson Airplane song... TBH, I've never heard it before, and only included it because it's a funny clip (my god, the air above that concert must have been lethal! any seagulls passing overhead would have been high for weeks after!)...

My favourite track of theirs is, of course, White Rabbit.

Born To Rock (Man)...

It's been nearly a year since I've posted this video, so I've decided I can risk it again... although I love it so much, I could put it up every day and never get sick of it...

But I'd better do the birthday greeting bit first, I guess...

Apr. 7th, 1938 - Spencer Dryden is born... Sadly, he died in 2005, but among other bands during his life, he was drummer with Jefferson Airplane... which gives me the excuse to play the sublime "White Rabbit" again...

(And, don't worry... the clip's not borked - The first 7 or 8 seconds have no sound, but then it comes right as the song starts).

Cutting The Strings...

coz that was a fairly shit idea!

So, just for today, or until another fabulous idea pops into my head, here's just a couple of songs... no real reason at all, just coz I like them...

One of the good things of having brothers & sisters who are a good bit older than me, was that when I was growing up, I was introduced to music that I would never otherwise have heard at that time.

So, I give you T.Rex and "Spaceball Ricochet"...

And then a BOGOF (if you're in retail, you'll know what that means) from Jefferson Airplane - "White Rabbit" and "Somebody To Love", with vocals in each case from Grace Slick... Great voice, man...
