Born To Rock...

Whew! That was a lucky escape - For a moment there I thought I was going to have to celebrate the birth of Bobby Brown, such was the lack of musical talent (especially him) born on this day in history...

But, I had another look and discovered Cory Wells from band Three Dog Night - born Feb. 5th, 1942 instead.

Here they are with one of my favourite songs (although I admit I'd only heard the cover by Tom Jones & The Stereophonics) - "Mama Told Me Not To Come"...

I love the story of how they got their name:

An official commentary included in the CD set Celebrate: The Three Dog Night Story, 1965-1975 states that vocalist Danny Hutton’s then-girlfriend June Fairchild thought of the name when she read a magazine article about Indigenous Australians, in which it was explained that on cold nights they would customarily sleep in a hole in the ground while embracing a dingo, a native species of wild dog. On colder nights they would sleep with two dogs, and if a night was especially cold, it was a “Three Dog Night.” (from Wikipedia)

Sorry it's such a boring video!
