Woo-hoo! After a near-miss a few days ago, today I get to play "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd because....

July 19th, 1952 - Allen Collins (born Larkin Allen Collins Jr), one of their guitarists, came into the world.

Sadly, he died in 1990, aged only 37... but, my god, he had his fair share of bad luck - both himself, and the band...

For himself, surviving the plane crash that killed some of the members of the band, then narrowly avoiding losing his arm... battling back, only to crash his car, killing his girlfriend and leaving him paralysed from the waist down...
