The WTF Post!

Was on YouTube earlier, showing Viki one of the Hamlet Cigar adverts (all because my brother was telling her about the Hamlet music yesterday), and then I started finding other adverts from the past... and then I came on one that said something about "The Funniest Beer Advert Ever", so we clicked PLAY... Absolutely brilliant!

And this leads me on to a plea... and a possibility for a regular post (if Lou doesn't mind that I'm nicking her idea) - great adverts of the past and present (I'll warn you, most of the ones I'm thinking of are for various beers!).

Anyway... The plea! Does anyone know where I can get the music from this classic McEwan's Lager advert?

It's by an Edinburgh band, Win, from the late '80's and is called "You've Got The Power". I can't find it on iTunes. Anyone got it that they can send me? Drop me a comment and I'll get back to you. Thanks!

I Shouldn't Laugh At These Adverts...

Two adverts doing the rounds at the moment for Teletext Holidays... and the first time I saw the first one, I didn't notice the subtitles - and my first thought was "That's a horrible advert! Showing people who've gone away and left their cats at home locked in the house!"

But then I saw it again with the subtitles... and the second one - And they're just so cute and funny...

First One - "Scaredy Cat"...

Second One - "Remote"...

So I laugh, but I feel guilty for doing it!

It's Always The Man's Fault!

There's this advert on telly at the moment, and it really bugs me...

It's this one...

Okay, loving (if a bit drippy) wife phones her husband... he's driving home... he answers the call and chats away to her... then, distracted by thoughts of what's for dinner when he gets home... BLAT - he drives into a car coming the other way...

And the poor woman is getting the blame for phoning him! How's she supposed to know he's driving!? And surely he knows that you're not meant to ANSWER the phone when you're driving!?

So, therefore his sad demise is his own damn fault for not either using his hands-free, or pulling into a lay-by before answering, or just simply ignoring the call?

I mentioned this to my brother tonight (who was driving at the time) and he said, "Oh, yes... It's always the poor man who's to blame, isn't it?"

Well, yeah!

New Music...

First up, the music from the advert for the new Mac Notebook Air - Israeli singer Yael Naim and "New Soul"... such a refreshing change from the Kate Nash / Adele whinging female singers around...

I was surprised to find this on iTunes... until the penny dropped that it's being used to advertise another Apple product, so of course they're going to have it! D'ur!

And I seem to be the last person to discover this track - David Jordan (who reminds me a lot of Prince), and "Sun Goes Down"...

And if anyone so much as mentions an awful kids' programme from years ago in relation to this track - with a yellow cone-shaped thing whose name started with "W", I'll sulk!

The free song at the moment on iTunes is really good as well, but I can't find it on YouTube yet - It's called "Split Lips" and is by Sons And Daughters... I'll keep an eye out for it.

Great Moments In Cinema...

And TV - Part 14

Today celebrates an advert, and is really just a sneaky way to post this music video because I think the song is truly beautiful...

From the latest Saab advert, Swedish band Oh Laura and "Release Me"... The singer Frida Ohrn has an amazing voice...
