A Month Of... Going Around America...

Today we make the first visit (coz we may well return) to New York city, but we also travel back in time to the 17th century when it was a Dutch settlement known as "New Amsterdam", courtesy of Elvis Costello & The Attractions...

My head is about spinning with the choice of musicos celebrating their birthdays today. For instance, we could have had:

1949 - Gene Simmons (a bit of KISS, maybe?)
1952 - Geoff Downes (Buggles)
1961 - Billy Ray Cyrus (ooo! a bit of "Achy, Breaky Heart"... how could you resist?)

Apologies, firstly, coz I'm bound to have posted this already (well, actually, no apologies... coz it's a bloody good song) - Elvis Costello & The Attractions with "Good Year For The Roses"...

And again, I can't remember if I've posted this one before either... There's a possibility, because it's by Nick Cave (who I love), but it's not one of my top 5 by him, so maybe I've not posted it...

When I went looking for this first song, I got really ticked off... because the only videos of it on YouTube were a fan video of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" that couldn't be embedded, and this cover, which I fully expected to be crap... but it's not half bad (not as savagely beautiful as the original... no cover could ever be)...
