Born To Rock...

Looking at the list of musicians celebrating their birthdays today, I was beginning to despair when I saw that my choices included Robbie Williams and Sonia! But then I saw another name, and there was no question who I was going to pick...

Feb. 13th, 1950 - one of my favourite video artists is born... Peter Gabriel...

Now, I've already done "Red Rain" and my personal favourite - "Big Time" - but here's a selection that show the great videos that accompany some of his songs...

"Steam"...

"Digging In The Dirt"...

Actually, because my computer crashes if I try to put too many videos in one post, I'm going to continue this in another post...

Born To Rock... Continued...

Now, other than "Sledgehammer", I first really started paying attention to Peter Gabriel's videos a good few years ago via a programme that was on ITV in the middle of the night, called "Not Fade Away".

It was a programme where every week a famous person would pick some of their favourite songs & videos, and one part of the programme was where they chose something like 5 videos by the same artist. I used to tape the programme and I don't remember who was doing the choosing, I just remember that I kept that tape safe for years, not recording over it, because I loved the Peter Gabriel videos so much.

I was so chuffed when he released a DVD of his videos a few years ago, because I'd long since worn out the tape!

"Kiss That Frog"...

"Games Without Frontiers"...

Er... Continued again...

Born To Rock... Continued Again...

Yes, the Peter Gabriel celebration continues...

"Solsbury Hill"...

And I'll leave it for the moment with - of course - "Sledgehammer"... one of the best videos of the 1980's...
