Tired And Twisty, Grumpy And Grouchy...

That's me today, as you'll no doubt suss out from the tone of the posts.

Woke up feeling really tired still, and really didn't want to get up... but I forced myself to. First up there was college... then the mobile phone issue... and a lack of lunch due to financial embarrassment (I've had £10 since yesterday - I had £20 available in the bank on Monday, but when I went to take out a tenner yesterday, I must have forgot a Direct Debit, because I had £5 available funds... and I needed £5 of the £10 in my purse for taxis today)... and spending all afternoon in a shop that stank of paint because the back room's being given a spruce up, which gave me a headache...

Never mind... come 5pm I managed a gingerbread latte because I had 6 stamps on my loyalty card, entitling me to a free coffee... and my last £2 (literally, I've got 0pence left... good job it's pay day tomorrow) bought me a thing of chips and a bit of black pudding.

Tomorrow's probably not going to be much better - back in the shop, and the painter's been in tonight again (NO... that's not a euphemism - I'm not hormonal, just crabbit!). And I've got to take my phone back to the shop.

Let's Get This Straight...

I'm not coorse on my mobile phones... I don't leave them in the pocket of my jeans and subject them to a boil wash... I don't drop them 6 storeys off scaffolding...

SO WHY THE FUCK CAN'T I GET ONE THAT WORKS FOR LONGER THAN A COUPLE OF MONTHS!?

Yesterday, my new (3 months old today) Samsung U600 suddenly "lost" all the words I had taught the predictive text dictionary (Hungarian, and foul language), and wouldn't re-learn them again.

This morning, I got a text from Lord O., and I managed to reply to it... but, when he texted back, and ever since, I've not been able to text - every time I start to type a message, I get one word entered, then when I press the space key, nothing happens... then, after a few seconds, the display goes like the phone's switching itself off, and then comes "back on" again, back to the main screen, and takes a minute to "initialise" - but exactly the same thing happens if you go back and try to type a message again. And while it's "frozen", closing the slide makes no difference - and when you open it again, it does its "power down" thing.

I have noticed a couple of times since I bought it that suddenly an "egg timer" would appear on the display when you were navigating the menus, and it would say something like "Please Wait"... but then it worked fine again.

So, for the moment, I'm back to my D500, and tomorrow the U600 goes back to the shop to be sent for repair!

I HATE FUCKING MOBILE PHONES!

It's Always The Man's Fault!

There's this advert on telly at the moment, and it really bugs me...

It's this one...

Okay, loving (if a bit drippy) wife phones her husband... he's driving home... he answers the call and chats away to her... then, distracted by thoughts of what's for dinner when he gets home... BLAT - he drives into a car coming the other way...

And the poor woman is getting the blame for phoning him! How's she supposed to know he's driving!? And surely he knows that you're not meant to ANSWER the phone when you're driving!?

So, therefore his sad demise is his own damn fault for not either using his hands-free, or pulling into a lay-by before answering, or just simply ignoring the call?

I mentioned this to my brother tonight (who was driving at the time) and he said, "Oh, yes... It's always the poor man who's to blame, isn't it?"

Well, yeah!

Reasons...

… to be cheerful131 – The number of £’s I won on the lottery on Saturday night… 4 numbers for the first time ever, and a pick 2, match 2 on the Hotpicks.

… to be guilty110 – the number of £’s I added to my winnings to buy myself a new phone. It’s a Samsung U600, and it’s fantastic! 3.2 mega-pixel camera, quad band, FM radio, ultra-thin, 2 touch-sensitive soft keys, black, TV output… and more… and I love it!

… to be less guilty90 – the number of £’s it was going to cost me to get that stupid, crappy LG Chocolate phone repaired (for the second time in the space of a year) and sent back to me. First time was a warranty job, but they told me it was outside warranty this time. At least my new phone has a full year’s guarantee with it. Now I can fax them and tell them to stick it sideways.

… to be less guilty (again)2 – the approx age in years of the Samsung D500 I’m using at the moment, and which is probably overdue to snuff it, even though it’s working fine at the moment.

… to be hacked off – 8 and a half – the time (8:30am) I had to be at work yesterday because boss had to go out, and Flunky was stuck across the Firth coz the boats weren’t running. He got back at half 11 or so in the morning.

… to be less hacked off4 and a half – the time (4:30pm) that the boss let me clear off early for being in early.

… to be hacked off again1 – the ear I must have got water in washing my hair yesterday morning, and which I’m now deaf in.

… to be afraid, very afraid1 – weeks to my exam!

… to be bored1 – I’m at work.

… to be hungry2 – the sandwiches in my bag that I’ve not had peace to nosh yet. And they’re Red Leicester cheese, which I’ve re-kindled my love affair with, after being unfaithful with a flexible Italian (Mozzarella) for a while.

The Re-Retraction...

You were right, dearest brother... There are only 2 batteries...

Fucking LG!

I got a letter today informing me that the fault in my LG Chocolate phone ISN'T repairable under warranty (despite being the second time in just over a year that it's happened), and providing me with a quote for repair....

..... for just shy of £90!

Chancing bunch of wankers! I am so unimpressed!

People, I implore you.... never buy one of their phones!

I've Been Asked To Point Out...

2 things:

1. My Mopod only had 2 batteries (I would check, but it's not easy to see when his erse is all wupped up with tape!).
2. The string was slippy (and not from my brother's sweaty paws, I'm sure).

Enough of a compromise, brother dear?

Never Try To Buck Evolution

Subtitled: Penguins Don't Fly So Good...

A tale from Saturday night that's got to go on here, otherwise my brother will be hugely disappointed, and I can't have that...

A few months ago I bought myself a Mopod... What's that? "What's a Mopod?", I hear you cry as one... I'm glad you asked - This is a Mopod...

And their website's here: Mopods

They're little gizmos that you get to attach to your bag, or phone, or whatever, and if you get a call or text, the little plastic pod flashes different coloured lights, and the animal spins like buggery to let you know.

Anyway, as you might have guessed by this post's subtitle, mine is the penguin... or maybe that should be WAS... as my brother was playing with mine on Saturday night to see what sort of magnetic fields would set him off, and he picked him up by the little string that's on him, and attempted to spin him round his finger, except it didn't quite go as planned... and my poor little penguin briefly felt what it was like to fly freely - before evolution and gravity kicked in, and he crashed to the ground, spilling his 3 little batteries out onto the floor...

As a result, his battery cover's now held on by tape, and my brother owes me a new Mopod!
