ROFLMAO!

I've just been chatting to a Sausage who's phone has been ringing me for the last 20 minutes or so and leaving 4 minute long silent(ish) voice mail messages!

After the initial shock of seeing "***** - Mobile calling" come up on the screen of my phone, I answered it, and could hear handbag noises (so that narrows down the sex of the person). So I realised what had happened, and followed the same procedure that we do when one of the sparkies doesn't lock their phone in their pocket and ends up phoning us, running off with all their credit and tying up our phoneline for 10 minutes:

1. Shout "Hello! Helloooooooooooooooo! I'm in your phone! Help!"
2. Whistle as loud as possible (which in my case sounded like an asthmatic snake after they've just climbed up a hill).
3. Bash the phone off the desk so the person on the other end hears knocking.
4. Hang up.

Damn phone immediately called me back! And kept calling! And then when I tried to ignore the calls, the voice mail messages started!

So I tried emailing the person in question... which they got, but too late...

In the end, I had to phone THEM... and was greeted by a very cheery (and slightly embarrassed) "Hello!" and several "Sorry"s!

So, *****, if you read this - It was good to hear your voice, and you brightened up my dull afternoon!

It's Tuesday Night... It's Half Past Nine...

It's Crackerjack! (Go on... you know you want to...)

Okay, so it's not Crackerjack (target audience reference there) - What it is, in fact, is the very first blog post from my new house!!!!

Yes, the phone line issue got sorted, the broadband got arranged, and now I can stop putting in all those (unpaid) "extra hours" at work... because I am back in cyberspace from home! Woo and indeed Hoo!

Oh, heck... since this is a first, I should really have said something auspicious (no, that's not a typo... I didn't really mean to type "suspicious"). Let's see... can I claw this back and share something pithy and amusing with you?

Er... that'll be a "No" then!

Oh, well - new house... same old tripe...

I LOVE BT!!!!

Update to my previous rant about the phone line fiasco at the new house:

Somehow or other, my brother managed to find out what the phone number for the line, but that was no help, because there was a bar on outgoing AND incoming calls, and it brought us no nearer to finding out who the line was held by.

Well, I was at work today, and the boss said "I got a message for you last night... Tell Alison to get the bloody phone line at her old house cancelled, because we're moving in there soon, and we can't get our phone sorted out!" (I hadn't cancelled the old one yet, because I didn't want to lose my old number... and it's a pal of the boss who is moving in).

So I decided I would give up... I would just cancel the line at the old house, lose the number, and sort out the new line at a later date.

After work, I phoned BT... and got a really pleasant surprise (once I'd finally got through to customer services) - I spoke to a really nice woman (Margaret, you're a star!), told her I had to cancel the old house line, but that I had wanted to transfer the number, only to be told that I had to get a new line put in the new house - for which they'd charge me £125.... She did a bit of checking on the account, and informed me that whatever the problem with the new house was, it had been sorted, and my old number could be transferred, and no £125 charge... and they would cancel the line at the old house within the next 7 days.

All it's going to cost me is a one or two week overlap on line rental... and I can live with that!

Let's Get This Straight...

I'm not coorse on my mobile phones... I don't leave them in the pocket of my jeans and subject them to a boil wash... I don't drop them 6 storeys off scaffolding...

SO WHY THE FUCK CAN'T I GET ONE THAT WORKS FOR LONGER THAN A COUPLE OF MONTHS!?

Yesterday, my new (3 months old today) Samsung U600 suddenly "lost" all the words I had taught the predictive text dictionary (Hungarian, and foul language), and wouldn't re-learn them again.

This morning, I got a text from Lord O., and I managed to reply to it... but, when he texted back, and ever since, I've not been able to text - every time I start to type a message, I get one word entered, then when I press the space key, nothing happens... then, after a few seconds, the display goes like the phone's switching itself off, and then comes "back on" again, back to the main screen, and takes a minute to "initialise" - but exactly the same thing happens if you go back and try to type a message again. And while it's "frozen", closing the slide makes no difference - and when you open it again, it does its "power down" thing.

I have noticed a couple of times since I bought it that suddenly an "egg timer" would appear on the display when you were navigating the menus, and it would say something like "Please Wait"... but then it worked fine again.

So, for the moment, I'm back to my D500, and tomorrow the U600 goes back to the shop to be sent for repair!

I HATE FUCKING MOBILE PHONES!
