It's 25 Past 11....

at night, and I've just nipped on to quickly say...

"3 days til Viki comes".

Now I'm going to bed because:

a. I'm cold, and my cold hasn't buggered off yet.
b. My leg is nipping a bit after the dressing was changed today.
c. I watched the first episode of series 3 of "Heroes" earlier, and I'm confused already... and also I'm going to go and dream about the Petrelli brothers... Hubba!

So, cheerio... and I'll hopefully feel a bit better tomorrow.

Sorry our chat was so short tonight, Viki. Puszas.

Here Lies Ally...

Okay, okay - It's not quite as bad as that! I just liked that smiley!

But I was forced into going to the doctor today with the sore bit on my leg - a whole 3 days before the ultimatum made by a friend (who told me on Sunday night that if I hadn't gone to see the doc a week from then that she would never speak to me again... and I believe her - those Hungarians are tough, you know). Over the last 2 or 3 days it's not got any sorer (it really doesn't hurt), but the yucky watery stuff that's coming out of the surrounding area is getting more and more - to the point that I put on a dressing yesterday morning, and had to replace it by about dinnertime.

Anyway, got an appointment (with the practice that's temporarily looking after us) at half past 10, and the doctor was worse than useless! Would you believe, he didn't even take off the dressing I had on to see what it looked like? All he did was write a prescription for some anti-biotics and tell me to "lose weight" - like it's that simple(!)

Back after work to see the practice nurse to get some better dressings put on it... not that they're much better. That was 5pm, and by 7o'clock, I was sticking tape round the edges to try to stem the stuff running out. I've got another set of dressings for tomorrow morning, and I've got to go back and see her tomorrow after dinner to check on it and get more dressings for the weekend. At this rate, it would be better if they just hacked the damn thing off!

Pissed off as well because I managed to burn my tea, so my meal was the fillings only of a little chicken & mushroom pie and a cornish pasty - Still, that's surely a start on the weight loss?

Yes, I'm in a grump.

Right, going to bugger off now and watch last week's "Heroes", repeated on BBC2 (yes, I know I went to watch it at my brother's last week, but the bastards at the BBC had decided in their infinite wisdom that they were going to show it at 10o'clock instead of the usual 10:30pm, so I only saw the last 10 minutes). Then I'll wander round the corner to D's to watch the new episode (which is back to 10:30 - I checked).

OH, FUCK!

Don't speak to me... I've got a serious grump on!

I went to set my video for "Heroes" part 3 tonight, and tried to rewind the tape to the end of part 2 (which I hadn't watched yet) - AND MY FUCKING VIDEO TAPE'S SHAGGED! AND IT WASN'T THAT OLD!!!

I rewound it a bit, and hit play... and the picture came on all flickery and distorted a bit, but I thought it was just settling down like it usually does - but then it stopped itself. I hit play again, and nothing happened... I tried rewind, and it rewound a fraction, then stopped and ejected itself... so I shoved it back in... and it ejected itself again...

So, as a protest, I'm here - and not watching part 3 (it's lucky I've seen the whole series already, or I'd be under a bus by now!).

Perhaps Sylar's got at my VCR?

Anyway, aside from that - work's been work, Flunky's been a pain in the hole, and last night at the counsellor was really good...

Know what? I always thought that the person I am here and on SN was this confident front that I put on to cover the wreck I really am - but it seems like the person I am here is more like the real me!

Erm... Oops...

Here I am again, feeling like a bit of a twonk...

... Of course, "Heroes" is on Wednesday night now, not Monday!

Monday...

Work's been okay... Flunky's still labouring under the misapprehension that HE's in charge while the boss is on holiday, but poor thing couldn't organise an orgy in a knocking shop.

It's been a reasonably bonny day, so I decided I would walk back up the road to the office after I'd covered the shop at dinnertime. This, however, was harder work than it should have been, as the wind was head-on for most of the walk. Not that it was blowing a gale or anything, just it was blowing more than I expected when I decided on the nice, sheltered street that walking up was a good idea.

The rest of the afternoon's been uneventful as well.

I'm still at work... not that I'm working (as you can tell) - I've done the till up here for tomorrow, and now I'm going to walk down to the shop (hopefully with the wind at my back this time) and do the till there for tomorrow.

Then off home for something to eat and set the vid for "Heroes" (coz I've still not watched the first 2 episodes I taped last week).

Well, I guess I'll toddle then. See ya tomorrow!

Shallow Al

Two good reasons to watch "Heroes" (other than the fact it's BRILLIANT) - the Petrelli brothers!

Peter, played by Milo Ventimiglia...

And Nathan, played by Adrian Pasdar...

I think Adrian Pasdar's my favourite of the 2 (coz he's playing the "bad" brother) - unless you're talking Fergie's video for "Big Girls Don't Cry", starring Milo Ventimiglia with ponytail and tattoos... I think they add to his charms!

The Musical Interlude...

Subtitled: My Hero(es)!

It's okay, there's no spoilers here... but how brilliant was last night's series finale?

Bucketheads - "The Bomb (These Sounds Fall Into My Mind)"...

And, yes, it's predictable, but it's a great song - "Heroes" by David Bowie... And, as you'll see from the video, the sun really DOES shine out of his erse! ;-D

Black Armband At The Ready...

It's the last episode of series 1 of "Heroes" tonight... sob, sob, sob...

I'm going to have to watch the re-runs on BBC2 when it starts... 25th July... Damn it, this is why I should never start watching serial dramas - I can never wait for the next episode / new series..!

So, what else is new today? Not a lot, really. Flunky's on holiday this week (no singing and dancing in the office... bliss), so it's been nice and quiet, but it does mean that the boss has only got me to take the piss out of, and that's not so good - it's more fun to sit back and watch Flunky take the heat!

It's been a slow day at work (where I am still, coz my brother's coming along in about half an hour to pick me up) - in fact, I've been able to sort through my trays on my desk, and they're now almost empty... I don't think they've EVER been empty before (and I haven't just dumped all the paperwork... it's actually filed!).

Dull and rainy here today... where's our summer gone?

Well, I'll skedaddle now and post this...

A Quick Post...

Just to say still nothing exciting happening.

It's been such a lovely day today, and I've been stuck in work... Bah, no fair!

This is annoying, because there was something I had to tell you, and I can't for the life of me remember what it was... old age and all that... I'll probably remember in the middle of the night!

Nope, it's not going to come back to me, so I'll go and potter for a while before the penultimate "Heroes" comes on...

Wait! That's it! I was going to bemoan the fact that there's only 2 more "Heroes" to go before the end of series 1 - What am I going to do!!!???

The Weekend And Monday...

Well, after work on Saturday, I went down to my brother's and then home to get changed for my brother-in-law's 60th birthday party... which was good fun, and led to my brother & I only coming home at 30'clock on Sunday morning...

And then Sunday was a dead loss... I woke up about 11am, with the intent to spend the day in some last-minute revision and reading of my books for today's exam, but I wasn't finished chapter 1 before I'd fallen asleep again. And that was the pattern for the day... read a chapter, fall asleep, waken up, attempt to read a bit more, fall asleep again... and so on...

And then when night-time came, I had somehow or other managed to fall asleep in a twist at some stage, and my back was absolutely killing me... which meant that if I did manage to drop off, it wasn't for much longer than 45 minutes at a time, before I woke up again in agony... and that's how my night passed. By the time 6am came, I was too scared to try to sleep, in case I overslept and was late for work.

Boss is still away, so it was just me and a hungover Flunky this morning (he'd been playing football at the weekend, and his team lost).

Then came 1pm and time to go to the college for the dreaded exam.

Fucking Hell, it was horrid. I'm being realistic... I know I've failed. There was only one task in it that I have any confidence that I've done right. Other pointers towards my having failed are:

1. I was the last person out of the exam room, and by that stage I had given up... I'd answered all the questions, but I didn't even go back and read them over again.
2. I've not shown enough of my workings, so that will lose me extra marks.

Oh, well... it'll give Boss and Flunky something else to mock me over!

Going to watch "Heroes" now, because Louise told me this is a good 'un!

Monday...

Nothing really to write about... It wasn't that good, it wasn't that bad... Nothing really exciting happened.

In the shop, up at the office, and then back down to the shop again... and that I suspect will be my routine for the rest of the week.

"Heroes" is on tonight though... in an hour and 10 minutes (Sci-Fi +1, I've not got my time wrong).

Well, that's about all for the waffle bit tonight...

Thanks, Nev...

But my brother cleared up the "Heroes" mystery for me last night...

The actress' name is Lisa Lackey, and - believe it or not - I remember her from "Home & Away" about 12 years ago!

I can't even remember her character (she played Roxanne), but he printed the list, and that's the only thing on it I've watched!

Great Moments In Cinema...

And TV - Part 17

"Heroes"

After a slow start, I'm loving this... and when I watched the first episode, I thought "God, that Japanese idiot's gonna bug the hell out of me", but I'm now a committed Hiro-worshiper!

SCI-FI UK Pages here: www.scifiuk.com/heroes/

Why should you watch this series?: Excitement, Humour (how funny was last night's subtitled "GULP!" from Hiro?), Adventure, Cute Guys (Peter, Nathan, DL, Mr Bennett... Okay, NOT Mr Bennett...)... This programme's got the lot!

ps 1: I'm not cheating by downloading this ahead - SO NO SPOILERS PLEASE... IT'S NOT FAIR!
ps 2:
This is really bugging me... what's the policeman's wife been in before? She's so familiar!
