A Month Of... All Creatures Great & Small...

Another thing that freaks me out... Meat Loaf and "Bat Out Of Hell"...

(And it's bats that give me the willies, not Meat Loaf... just for the record...)

I See You Shiver...

But not in antici........................... pation... Not after reading this story:

BBC News: Rocky Horror Movie To Be Remade

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Sky, I beg you... reconsider! Leave this alone! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease!

(Yes, this is worthy of all those exclamation marks)!!

For a start, who are you going to get to play Frank 'n' Furter? There's no one can fill Tim Curry's fishnets! Tim WAS and IS Frank! Same with Eddie... Who can top Meat Loaf?

At least I hear that Richard O'Brien has washed his hands of this... Maybe Lou Adler needs the money more?

From what I read on the net, no one thinks this is a good idea!

There's a petition here that you can sign to try to get Sky and MTV to rethink this.

And I know I post this on a regular basis (hey! my blog, my rules), but here is the master at work... "Sweet Transvestite"...

A Bit Of Meat Loaf...

Yes, I admit it... in fact, I'm proud of it... It's time to come out of the closet....

I am a humungous Meat Loaf fan!

I love his voice... I love the songs (God bless Jim Steinman... you write beautiful songs)... "Bat Out Of Hell" was the first album I bought on CD, and I love it more now than I did way back then...

So every so often you'll get a slice or two of Meat Loaf - starting with probably my favourite... "For Crying Out Loud"...

And "Two Out Three Ain't Bad"...

For you youngsters reading this who haven't heard "Bat Out Of Hell", I urge you... go buy it... It's simply a fantastic album. You can read all about it here... facts like it's still selling some 200,000 copies a year! And it spent an unbelievable 474 weeks on the UK album charts... that's around about 9 years! Can you really see an Arctic Monkeys' album hanging around THAT long on the charts? I don't think so!

What? I'm ranting? Oh.... erm... okay. *blush*

The Musical Interlude...

More lovely lyrics, from the pen of Jim Steinman this time. "Who?", I hear you cry - Well, he's the guy responsible for most of Meat Loaf's hits, as well as a couple by Bonnie Tyler amongst others.

Now, I love Meat Loaf's voice, and Jim Steinman is a lyrical genius, so expect more of their stuff to pop up here!

Today's is "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad"...

The Musical Interlude...

A slight change to the musical post today, which might crop up every so often as I think of an example...

Some of my favourite lyrics - Today, the start of Meat Loaf's "You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)" - a dialogue between a man (blue text) and a woman (pink):

On a hot summer night, would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?
Will he offer me his mouth?
Yes.
Will he offer me his teeth?
Yes.
Will he offer me his jaws?
Yes.
Will he offer me his hunger?
(Yes).
Again... will he offer me his hunger?
Yes!
And will he starve without me?
Yes!
And does he love me?
(Yes).
(Yes).
On a hot summer night, would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?
Yes.
I bet you say that to all the boys!

Great Moments In Cinema...

And TV - Part 33

Did you figure out my oh-so-subtle clues I gave you in "The Musical Interlude..." then?

Let's examine the evidence...

Liam Lynch? Amazingly, he directed this film...
Foo Fighters? Dave Grohl had a starring role (reprising a character he'd played before) in the film... although you maybe wouldn't have recognised him, since he looked a "hornier" than he usually does (impossible as it may seem)...

Yep, it is (of course) the mighty "Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny"... and here's the opening song - "Kickapoo", featuring Meat Loaf and Dio - and the little kid playing JB is amazing!

IMDb page here: www.imdb.com/title/tt0365830/
Tenacious D website here: www.tenaciousd.com/

Why should you watch this film?: Cause it's a bad-ass, laugh-a-minute, rocking riot! I just watched it today, and I about wet myself laughing!

Oh, and as a special treat (one that doesn't appear anywhere on the DVD... gutted)... Here is the mighty "Tribute" video, starring some of the familiar faces from the film...

And for those of you who aren't easily offended, and have a sense of humour, here's a link to the video for "Fuck Her Gently"... www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvNPKeJ4ZUo
