iPod Drama!
I had a lucky escape yesterday as well, all tied in with the home support people and the clearing up...
On Thursday last week, I had my iPod at work, and down to the shop at dinnertime. When I headed back up to the office, I remembered having it in a carrier bag. Then I went to a shop and bought a mop bucket, coz mine had a hole in the bottom, and they put the bucket in a black rubbish bag for me.
So, when I came to go home, I gathered up my carrier bags and shoved them in beside the bucket, and when I came home with the H.S. workers, we started working, and clearing up Dad's stack of old paperwork he had in his corner.
Anyway, Thursday night, I went to get some things ready to post to New Zealand (they ARE coming, Nev!), and needed an envelope I'd bought from the shop. So I went to get it out of the carrier bag - and couldn't find the bag! So, my natural assumption was that I'd left it at the office, and I'd get it the next day.
Friday morning, I came to the office - and the bag wasn't there! So, I thought I might have left it down the shop, so I checked there at dinner time - and it wasn't there! I texted the woman who'd taken me home with my mop & bucket and all to see if it was still in her car - but no answer.
Anyway, yesterday she said it wasn't in the car... and I really started to panic, coz if I'd left it in a shop or something, that had been 4 days previously! But she had another look through the bags of junk to go out to the rubbish... just in case... and after about 15 minutes she appeared from outside with one carrier bag, from the bottom of a rubbish bag!
All I can think of is that when I've taken the bucket out of the rubbish bag, they've just grabbed the bag and used it - never realising there was a carrier bag in it that sure as hell wasn't rubbish!
Amazingly, and in direct contradiction to my usual luck, it was bone dry... no mean thing considering that just yesterday morning there was thunder & lightning and torrential rain!
And if the women had only come back on Thursday (their usual day), then rubbish day would have been past, when the bags would have been put out for the binmen, and my iPod would have been landfill!
You can't imagine how relieved I was to get my £200+ 40gb iPod back!
